IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT JABU Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, a new Vice Chancellor was recently appointed for JABU. He is Professor Sola Fajana, a specialist in Management Science. Since his assumption of duty on 1st July, 2011, a number of positive changes have been introduced in JABU with the approval of both the Governing Council and the Board of Trustees. 1.0 Part time Programme The University introduced the Part Time Degree Programme with effect from the current session (i.e. 2011/2012). The programme consists of the best practices in the combination of Distance Learning and Sandwich programme.
1.1 Distance Learning Mode Working class students who are unable to afford the time to leave their current places of work can study in the comfort of their homes using the study materials to be made available by the University. The materials will include revision questions and further references where necessary.
1.2 Sandwich Learning Mode All part time students will be expected to converge on JABU Campus for six to eight weeks in August and September each year for contact teaching with JABU lecturers at the end of which they will sit for examinations in their various courses.
1.3 Centre Tutorials At various locations, the University will appoint Centre Managers who will organize tutorials for part time students. To ensure quality, the credentials of tutorial Masters would be scrutinized by JABU staff and only approved tutorial Masters will be allowed to interact with the students. Where practicable, staff of JABU will participate in the conduct of tutorials. And to avoid exploitation of students tutorial fees will be fixed by the University Management.
1.4 Duration of Part Time Degree Programme (i) 5 years for all 4-year full time programmes (ii) 6 years for all 5-year full time programmes
1.5 Special Attraction Also available are the following specially designed programmes: (i) 2 year (six semester) – intensive programme for HND holders to have B.A. or B.Sc degrees. (ii) 2 year (six semester) – intensive programme for NCE holders to have B.A or B.Sc degrees in one of their teaching subjects at the NCE programme. 1.6 Fees (i) Art-based programmes with no laboratory, workshop or studio practice for two semesters - N92,500
(ii) Art-based programmes involving laboratory, workshop or studio practice for two semesters - N97,500
(iii) Science-based programmes - N97,500 1.7 Matriculation The first set of students are expected to matriculate on 17th December, 2011 at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji Arakeji. Interested persons can still apply.

Other Centres may be approved depending on availability of adequate number of students.
2.0 SPECIAL CONCESSIONARY FEES The following special offers are made available in respect of our regular degree programmes.
2.1 For Biological Children of C.A.C. Members (i) All C.A.C. biological children admitted to JABU shall enjoy 15% discount on fees. For instance, a C.A.C. child in JABU who will normally have paid N400,000 per session, will now pay N350,000 only.
(ii) For C.A.C. Members Wishing to Study B.A. Religious Studies or B.A.Ministerial Studies. For the above categories of students the fees have been slashed by 50%. For instance instead of the normal fee of N400,000, such C.A.C. member student will pay only N200,000.
(iii) For C.A.C. Ordained Pastors Wishing to Study B.A. Religious Studies or B.A. Ministerial Studies. For the above category of students the fee has been slashed by 60%. For instance instead of the normal fee of N400,000, C.A.C. Pastors will pay N160,000.
(iv) For Every Other Applicant All other applicants not belonging to the above categories, the fee has been slashed by 40%! For example, instead of paying N400,000, the student will pay N240,000 only. NOTE 1. The above fee discount regime is effective from the current 2011/2012 session. Applicants are expected to apply immediately, but not later than 3rd February, 2012 which is the Matriculation day. 2. The University will give special concession to serving C.A.C Pastors to leave Campus during weekends to conduct their services and hold important meetings.
3.0 General Discount for Selected Programmes The University has observed that a number of programmes that are very important to national development, are not well subscribed to by students because they believe such programmes are “difficult” or “too abstract”. The nation needs experts in these areas of study for its scientific and economic growth. As part of its contribution to national development, Joseph Ayo Babalola University has decided to give fee rebate to students who opt to study the programmes in JABU.
The following programmes are affected:
(i) Physics Electronics (ii) Mathematics (iii) Statistics (iv) Geography and Geo-Sciences and (v) Philosophy and (vi) Entrepreneurship (vii) Actuarial Science and Insurance
For these programmes, the University offers a fee rebate of 20%.
4.0 Entrepreneurship Programme Joseph Ayo Babalola University is the only University in Nigeria offering Entrepreneurship Programme at degree level. It is also the only University with a well equipped Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition Centre and workshops. The Centre provides hands-on skills in a variety of trade to make all our graduates employable and employers of labour. The Centre also provides short courses for skill acquisition for all literate persons, school leavers and graduates anxious to become self sustainable.
5.0 Foundation Programme For prospective applicants who fail to take the 2010 JAMB Examination or could not meet the National average to qualify for admission, JABU runs the Foundation Programme. On successful completion of the programme such a student will be eligible to move to 200 Level the following year through direct entry application through JAMB.
6.0 Remediation of Deficiency A prospective student who obtains a minimum requirement of 5 ordinary level credit passes, but fails to pass a required subject, will be admitted, but will have to take our remediation of deficiency programme while simultaneously pursuing his 100 Level programme.
7.0 Pre-Degree Programme The University runs a pre-degree programme for students who have attempted the ordinary level examinations but failed to make the required five credits to qualify for University admission. Such students will be taught by specialists to pass both the O/Level subjects and JAMB examinations.
Conclusion Joseph Ayo Babalola University is determined to assist young Nigerians in general, but children of Christ Apostolic Church in particular to achieve their aspiration to have quality University education.
