Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State is a faith-based tertiary institution owned by the Christ Apostolic Church (Worldwide). It was approved on 8th February, 2006 by the Federal Executive Council; received its licence on 6th March, 2006 and opened to students for the 2006/2007 session on the 25th October, 2006.
The University, otherwise, known as JABU, started with 4 Colleges:
College of Agricultural Sciences
(with 5 departments and 5 academic programmes)
College of Humanities
(with 3 departments and 3 academic programmes)
College of Natural Sciences
(with 4 departments and 8 academic programmes)
College of Social and Management Sciences
(With 8 departments and 8 academic programmes).
The young University is designed to train students in entrepreneurial initiatives, skills and theory acquisitions, regardless of their basic academic pursuits, in order to make them self-sufficient, as well as make them competent and efficient employers of labour in adding value to our national economy and the knowledge economy, especially through the windows of computer training and ICT, so that they will always find relevance to global trends and national development.
