DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING

1.         Philosophy of the Department
The department is set out to provide quality training for students toward the attainment of B.Sc Accounting. Not only that, it is determined to provide adequate training to professional examination candidates of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Institute of cost and Management Accountants (ICMA). The philosophy is also to provide research and information technical knowledge to the students to be abreast of modern techniques in accounting.

2.         Objectives of the Programme
The objectives of the Degree programme are:
To impact to the students the basic knowledge of the concepts, theories, principles and practice of Accounting and Financial Management;
To teach students the application of techniques of Accounting and Financial Management in the solution of management problems and thereby equip them to make worthwhile contributions to the accomplishment of the objectives of entities and achievement of increase in the economic productivity and social welfare;
To contribute to the knowledge and practice of Accounting and financial Management through research, development of intellectual horizon of students, attachment to reputable accounting firms and professionally qualified accountants
